L00KING FOR VOLUNTEERS
In the following areas -
PEER COACHES - ADULT COACHES - SPONSORSHIP Co ORDINATOR - SOCIAL Co ORDINATOR
It's the 4th year and we need your help!! for more information please contact Danielle Kent @ (905) 304-3292 or Clayton Boxall @ (905) 385-7937
Please note that while any help is greatly appreciated, coaching positions must be filled by those who are willing to make a weekly commitment to the program. It is very important for the athletes to have consistent coaching and for the club to have consistent management. Our numbers are small with 5 players in a team. Ideally, 1-2 Adult coaches with 3 peer coaches.
I will provide a weekly session plan that is fun and easy to follow for all. Can you afford 1 hour a week for 8 weeks? Peer Coaches You will possess patience and a willingness to help another player learn some new skills with soccer. You will be paired up with 1 or 2 players in a group setting of 5 with an Adult Coach. Peer Coaches are siblings, friends and young people with a desire to help.
We've had Peer Coaches as young as Grade 2 and old as Grade 12 - as long as you have the ability to play soccer - we welcome you! Also at the end of our season a Volunteer Certificate from Special Olympics Ontario and the Ancaster Phoenix we be presented to you!
ATTENTION HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS As stated in Ontario Secondary Schools, Grades 9 to 12: Program and Diploma Requirements, 1999 (OSS), every student who begins secondary school during or after the 1999–2000 school year must complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement activities as part of the requirements for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Secondary school students can earn some of their 40 hours of community service requirement by volunteering for the Ancaster Phoenix. Letters will be provided for community service hours.
Adult Volunteers: If you wish to volunteer for this team you must fill out a volunteer form, a police screening (records check) form with a vulnerable sector screening form. Please note police checks take 30 days to process. Without these forms in place prior to volunteering, you will not be able to volunteer. I have included a letter to have the fee associated with the police clearance waived - see #4. I will accept Police checks that were done for the current school year.
